Gates are an important feature of a fence, and we absolutely love making them!
Many years experience (and some fun experimenting) has given us some reliable designs which are listed below. However we like a challenge and cherish the opportunity to make something different or unusual, so if you’ve got something in mind let us know.
All gates are made to order and we will need a few details, such as the width of the gap and which side you want it hung, before making the gates for you.

Mordiford
Strong 5 bar gates made from cleft Oak and Chestnut to a local Herefordshire pattern. They come with hand forged hinges, coated in beeswax. These gates work well as a pair, and different bracing patterns are available.

Aylton
A traditional Church gate pattern, made from sawn Chestnut, Oak or Larch. Supplied with bespoke hand forged hinges.

Classic gate pattern using cleft pales on a sawn frame. Can be made as a pedestrian or entrance gate. A choice of galvanised, painted or handmade hinges.

Wicket
Lighter framed cleft chestnut gates, made to match paling or nailed frame fences. A cheaper alternative to the mortised frame gates, easier to hang and a good DIY option. Complete with galvanised strap hinges and cabin hook. Maximum width 4ft, different top style options available.

Avenbury
Picket and pale gates made from a mix of sawn and cleft oak or chestnut on a heavy mortised frame. They come with hand forged hinges, coated in beeswax, with or without a bent top rail. Different top style options available.

A framed panel gate, available with sawn or cleft laths – great for entrances or as a pedestrian gate. Hinges – a choice of galvanised, painted or hand forged.

Knightwick
A high quality sawn estate gate – different bracing and rail patterns are available. Hinge options are galvanised, painted or hand forged.
Prices start at £650 for softwood, and £846 for hardwood.
Hurdles
Sturdy hurdles, made to a traditional pattern, light enough to be easily moved. On a nailed frame, good for keeping sheep in, dogs out or as a feature in the garden.
Prices depend on the size and number of rails and start at £66 plus vat.
Eardisley
This unique gate was made as a wedding present, so we milled up a forked oak tree, each gate is made from a different half. A (tree) union for a (people) union.
