Crunchie’s Cobs

Crunchie and his horses extract our timber from difficult sites. It is always a pleasure to watch them work. His horses are very good at working along side our machinery, which makes it an ideal solution to get wood out efficiently.

Professional woodland chair-making courses since 1985. With over 25 years experience in running courses in green wood chair-making, Mike Abbott will guide you through the process of making a chair from a tree in a beautiful woodland setting. Having written three books on the subject , Mike is acknowledged by many as the leader in the field of green wood chair making in the UK. Having reached retirement age, Mike has moved his chair-making courses from the woodland back to the workshop in his cottage garden.

Our friend Will runs courses in the woods at Brook House Farm (Mike Abbot’s former workshop) – chairs, stools, spoons and more! Great accomodation to suit every taste and pocket.

Hannah Genders – garden designer, chestnut enthusiast & friend

Hannah set up her landscape design business twenty years ago, she has a passion for creating beautiful gardens that are sustainable and wildlife friendly.
‘I love what I do, the creativity, being outdoors in the natural world and working with many different and unique projects is wonderful’ says Hannah
Hannah holds a degree in Landscape Design, Diploma qualifications in amenity horticulture and grade 2 Braille and she is a Chelsea medal winner.

Jenny Cole, Artist Blacksmith

Jenny makes individual handmade pieces for the home and garden. She aims to reduce the environmental impact of her work wherever possible, using Say it With Wood to provide her timber.

Paul and Jo Morton

Paul and Jo manage their own woodland for conservation, and run greenwood courses. They are building sheds from the wood extracted from their woodland and plan to build a low impact house.

Caves Folly Nurseries

Caves Folly Nurseries is a gardeners paradise. All their plants are grown in organic, peat free compost.

Fred’s Yurts

Fred’s Yurts offer luxury furnished Yurt and Bell tent rental, ’boutique camping’ and ‘glamping’ services at events throughout the UK. Fred uses Say it With Wood’s Sweet Chestnut to make the frames of his yurts.

Rooted Forest School provides inspiring grounds development and outdoor space design services for schools and nurseries across Herefordshire. They use local sustainable timber including our chestnut paling to create exciting outdoor learning environments for children.

New Leaf

New Leaf is a small charity working with people around Herefordshire to develop ways of saving energy and living more sustainably.  They work with businesses, individuals, schools, community groups and local authorities, helping people to access the tools they need to facilitate, fund or structure their own sustainability and carbon reduction. They focus on local sustainable solutions, local trade and local regeneration.

Yorkshire Hurdles

Yorkshire Hurdles is a woodland management and craft business, run by partners Geoff Norton and Angela Cole. They manage forests in the traditional manner, extracting materials which are used for their range of products and services.

Grown in Britain is a movement that aims to:

  1. Create a new and stronger market ‘pull’ for the array of products derived from our forests and woodlands.
  2. Develop private sector funding that supports the planting and management of forests and woodlands through funding from corporates as part of their corporate social responsibility.
  3. Connect together and harness the positive energy and feelings towards our forests and woodlands that many in our society share to create a strong ‘wood culture’. A wood culture that captures personal health and fitness, well-being, community and encourages use of more wood and forest products. Grown in Britain has cross Government support and the potential to make a lasting difference to the forests and woodlands of Britain

Paul at Moles services

Moles fencing provide a good service for fencing, paddock, estate and woodland owners. They have a good reputation and will use our Chestnut for the fencing whenever possible.

Rustic Carpentry

Using the ancient and traditional rural craft skills of green woodworking and woodland carpentry, at Rustic Carpentry we specialise in creating handcrafted furniture for garden and home and larger bespoke outdoor structures.
