As the reputation of Say It With Wood has grown, Toby and Aly have welcomed some additions to the family to allow them to supply and install the highest quality chestnut fencing and gates, garden products, alongside forestry services and even the occasional compost toilet! Each member of the team was handpicked by the couple for their skills, attention to detail and knowledge of their craft…
Say It With Wood’s co-owner and founder, Toby started his fencing career in Cornwall and after moving to Kent discovered woodlands and the wonders of Chestnut. He hauled his enormous wooden creations around farmers markets before deciding to settle in Herefordshire with the lovely Aly. He considers himself a lucky man – he has the best job in the world!
Co founder, owner and first lady of Say It With Wood, there is nothing Aly loves more than the great outdoors. She is fully qualified as a forester and as a forest machine operator and now also manages the Leighton Court Yard. She has found the perfect avenue for her passions with Say It With Wood, creating sustainable yet beautiful products whilst helping to restore under managed woodland.
Say It With Wood’s longest serving employee, Rob met Toby and Aly after ordering an oversized garden bench from the couple. With experience as a soft wood fencer and landscaper plus his own ‘Artisan Garden Carpentry’ business, Rob was an ideal candidate to join the company as an installer in 2009.
A jack of all trades, Jason has worked within the construction, bar and events industries. A self employed steel fixer and part time personal licence holder when he met Toby and Aly, Jason now works as an assistant installer with Rob, ensuring the job is done safely, soundly and to a high standard.
Zoe is Say It With Woods very dedicated paling specialist, quickly and efficiently getting your paling orders completed.
One of the youngest of the Say It With Wood crew, Ben can split stakes up at quite a rate! He is learning the trade directly from Toby and Aly and has recently gained his chainsaw ticket.
Traditionally a timber framer, Toby and Aly met Dan at a Say It With Wood Christmas party when the whole crew took part in a timber framing course that Dan was helping to run. He officially joined the company in October 2014, working part time constructing beautiful and bespoke rustic gates. He sports a rather fetching beard which is his pride pride and joy.
Peter has been with us on a part time basis for the last few years: a bit of an all rounder – tree climbing, hedge laying, felling and fence installation.
Jane is your first line of contact. She used to work from home keeping our website up to date and easy to navigate, but also mans the office four days a week between 10 and 3 keeping our admin in line. This gives us more continuity with our administration and communication between departments. She is assisted by her dog Pixie, a bedlington whippet cross pup.
Our skilled greenwood worker, Bryce makes all our trellis and lath panels, benches, most of our gates and all sorts of other lovely products. He uses waste products from the yard to grow edible and medicinal mushrooms. He is very interested in mycoforestry (google it – its fascinating).
